Volt Lane Car Park Classification
Council is required to classify property it has recently become the owner of as either community or operational as defined in Chapter 6 Part 2 of the Local Government Act 1993.
Lot 14 DP1170273 has recently been transferred into Council's ownership. Lot 14 principally defines the position of the (5) car parking decks in Council's Volt Lane Public Carpark.

It is intended that Council will pass the following resolution classifying the (5) decks of the Volt Lane Public Carpark as operational property.

The Albury City Council classifies the following land as operational as defined in Chapter 6 Part 2 of the Local Government Act 1993:
1. Lot 14 DP1170273 which is principally the (5) concrete car parking decks and the complete lift well and fire escapes servicing the (5) decks of the Volt Lane Carpark in Albury, but not including the upper level of first deck of this carpark.

Preliminary PLAN for Thurgoona/Wirlinga

The preliminary plan has been made available by Albury City Council. The documents will be before the alternative community workshops on Wednesday 22nd [Golf Club 6.30 pm] or Thursday 23rd [ Council Offices 9.30 am].

I do not yet know the timeline for further steps. Hopefully that will soon be revealed.

Have a look at the impressive work done by the consultants [RPS Australia East]. I don't suppose it is perfect yet - I think I have seen one mistake!

You can download the twelve documents ['chapters']. Here is a shortcut link to the AlburyCity page:

VISION - WORKSHOP - COUNCIL - COMMUNITY

Hooray!
Received today in my letterbox:

THIS is the way to go with communication!
May many residents of all ages be able to take part!
An opportunty, in two places, never to be repeated....
You are needed.

STOP PRESS
Council has posted for everyone the preliminary plan - 12 parts, separately - total 63 pages.
See 'Your vision for Thurgoona'.

15 February 2012

WHOSE Vision for Thurgoona? [Albury Council]

'Your vision for Thurgoona'.

AlburyCity owes an apology for disappointing lack of respect shown to the Albury community.

Unfortunately, with only a week to go, workshop 'advertising' is inadequate - see below. [Yes, it was in 'Accent', in generalities.]

The Council documents for the community workshops are still awaited.

The official circulated details available are as before:

A further round of community workshops will be held on:
  • Wednesday 22 February between 6.30pm-9.00pm at the Thurgoona Country Club Golf Resort, Evesham Place, Thurgoona.
  • Thursday 23 February between 9.30am-11.30am at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury.
A draft vision and  preliminary structure plan will be outlined which will consist of concept options for the future development of Thurgoona
For further information, please contact Council's project coordinator Chris Graham on 6023 8285 or  via email

The available information has been mailed to people [presumably all previous participants]. It is posted on the AlburyCity website via the 'Your vision for Thurgoona' link [front page, right hand side, near bottom].

My sincere hope is that members of the community will be able to fit this important workshop into their lives and make themselves available to take part in a session. Participation is a significant and lasting contribution you may make to your City. The 'Thurgoona Wirlinga Precinct Structure Plan' will shape development for a very long time to come - perhaps 30 years. Future residents yet unborn will owe something to contributions made in 2012. The workshop SHOULD be open to all.

Comment: I regret lack of consideration from AlburyCity to the community as a whole. This I say because 'de novo' newspaper advertising on Saturday for the event on Wednesday [Thursday alternative] is obviously inadequate. [I hope any advert will be prominent.]

In my hearing in previous years some councillors have referred  to 'community apathy'. That is offensive. Here the boot is firmly on the other foot and the stones to throw are under that foot.

Local people have done their best for the Council 'vision' event and process. The plan and responsibility belong to Albury City Council. The public deserves consideration. AlburyCity staff should do better, please.

Notice is given, as required under Section 7(1)a of the Roads (General) Regulation 2008, that Council proposes to change the name of the Borella Lane, East Albury.
It is proposed to rename Borella Lane as Smithwick Lane to avoid possible confusion with Borella Road. This proposed change will allow unique addresses to be allocated to Borella Lane which cannot be confused with addresses in Borella Road.
Council will accept written submissions on this proposed road name change up until the end of February 2012. Submissions should be addressed to Chris Newnan, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury NSW 2640.

This was posted to the web by Alburycity today. It will be interesting to see what is in the Border Mail on Saturday.
